What does the seedling and cuttings kit contain?
✅ 28 pots (7×7×8 cm)
- Convenient for initial plant capture.
- Compact enough to fit efficiently in a limited space, but with enough volume (about 0.4 l) for roots in the early growth phase.
✅ Peat mix for seedlings (25 l)
- A specially developed substrate with a light and loose structure that promotes good moisture retention and optimal aeration.
- Suitable for various types of seeds and young plants, ensuring a quick and healthy start.
✅ Root It! Propagator
- Compact mini-greenhouse with a transparent lid that maintains a constant temperature and high humidity.
- It facilitates control of the microclimate and contributes to faster seed germination and rooting of cuttings.
How to use the kit for growing seedlings or cuttings?
-
Prepare the peat mix
- Before use, lightly moisten the substrate to make it evenly moist.
- Loosen it carefully to avoid compaction and to ensure air access to the roots.
-
Fill the pots
- Fill each 7×7×8 cm pot with the peat mix, without pressing too hard.
- Leave a small gap at the top (about 1 cm) to make watering easier and prevent spillage.
-
Sow the seeds or place the cuttings
- For seeds: Make a small indentation (1–2 cm, depending on the species) and cover them lightly with peat mix.
- For cuttings: Prepare the stems, cut at an angle and, if desired, use rooting gel or powder. Place the cutting in the middle of the substrate.
-
Water carefully.
- Moisten the soil evenly without causing waterlogging.
- If you are working with cuttings, you can spray them lightly with water to keep the leaves hydrated.
-
Place the pots in the propagator
- Arrange them so that there is space between the pots for air circulation.
- Close the lid and monitor the humidity level. If excessive condensation forms, open the lid for brief ventilation.
-
Maintain appropriate conditions
- Aim for a temperature of around 20–25 °C in the propagator.
- Maintain high humidity, but ventilate periodically to avoid mold and fungus.
-
Observe and care for plants
- Check the soil moisture regularly. When the top layer begins to dry out, water lightly.
- After germination or rooting, you can open the lid for longer periods to acclimate the plants to outdoor conditions.
-
Transplanting
- When the plants develop a sufficiently strong root system and several true leaves (for seeds) or are visibly strengthened (for cuttings), transplant them into larger pots or into the garden.
- Gradually increase their exposure to direct light and outdoor conditions.
