Transplanting orchids

Orchids need repotting every 12-18 months, as over time the substrate (barks) begins to retain too much moisture. Transplanting into a new substrate and enriching with a specialized fertilizer will revive the plants and stimulate vigorous growth and prolonged flowering.

In the orchid transplant kit you will find:

• 3 liters of substrate for orchids , containing coconut fibers and shells - the ideal environment for all types of orchids.

• 100 ml Spray for orchids - provides comprehensive care for orchids. The spray is composed of mineral salts and does not contain urea. It helps the growth, strengthens the leaves and ensures abundant flowering. It is suitable for all types of orchids and prevents the appearance of pests. Use 2-3 times a week, avoiding spraying on the flowers.

• 10 orchid clips - the clips are suitable for supporting the stems of orchids and other plants.

Transplanting orchids - when is the best time to do it?

It is best to transplant our orchids in spring or autumn, when the plant enters the growth phase. This happens after the flowers have fallen. If the plant's roots are sticking out of the pot or looking rotten, it's a sign that it's time to repot.

How to repot our orchids?

1. Remove the orchid from the old pot : Gently grasp the base of the plant and pull it out of the pot. If the roots are very entwined in the substrate, gently loosen them with your fingers.
2. Clean the roots : Shake the plant to remove the old substrate from the roots and carefully wash the roots under running water. Inspect the roots and remove any rotten, dry or damaged parts. Healthy roots are green or white and firm to the touch. Use disinfected shears to cut off diseased or dry roots. If the trunk of the orchid is very long, you can cut it. A long trunk requires a deeper pot, which usually has poorer drainage.
3. Prepare the new pot : Orchids prefer transparent pots. Place a thin layer of the substrate on the bottom of the pot. Carefully place the orchid's roots in the pot. Place the plant in the center of the pot and fill the gaps around the roots with new substrate. Try not to pack the substrate too tightly to allow air around the roots. After transplanting, spray the foliage and soil with Orchid Mist. Avoid watering too much immediately after transplanting. Water normally after 5 days.
